About the role

We are currently recruiting a Senior Risk Manager within our Risk team. Our purpose is to ensure that at NHS Digital we understand and manage the main risks we face in delivering our objectives.
 
We apply our subject matter expertise to support teams across the organisation to embed a risk culture in their ways of working. We also ensure that the business areas understand how to identify and manage their risks so that we can ultimately deliver our commitments and objectives. Through promoting a culture of collective and individual accountability, we ensure that risk management and assurance is fully embedded across the organisation.

By doing this we provide assurance to our Board and key stakeholders that NHS Digital can successfully deliver on its objectives as a trusted, and valued, business partner across health and social care.


As our Senior Risk Manager you will:

• provide independent assurance that appropriate controls are in place, and that delivery risks are appropriately managed, within our risk appetite

• define and report on our organisational performance both internally and to the public using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• ensure robust portfolio management, corporate and operational governance, comprehensive risk management systems and processes exists and are fit for purpose, and operate effectively within NHS Digital

About you

Some of the skills and experience we're looking for: 

  • understanding of the NHS and Digitisation Programmes within the NHS
  • knowledge of Risk Management standards (e.g. ISO31000)
  • comprehensive understanding of the theoretical and academic elements of risk management and significant experience of applying these principles in a business context
  • specialist knowledge of the standards, methods, tools, and applications for preparing and presenting risk management approaches and strategies both orally and in writing
  • understanding of the differences between strategic, operational and programme/project risk management
  • familiarity with HMT/OGC/Cabinet Office risk management methodologies.
