About the role

NHS Digital is the national information and technology provider for the health and care system.  Our growing team of 2,700+ information analysis, technology and project management experts create, deliver and manage the crucial digital systems, services, products and standards upon which health and care professionals depend, working in partnership with both national and local organisations.

 

This role will be based within the Centre of Excellence Team, working on NHSmail. The NHSmail Shared Tenant provides organisations with access to Exchange Online and Microsoft 365 product suite as a national service and provides frontline staff with secure collaboration services to enable them to be more effective when working across Health & Social Care settings. You will manage the CoE team, reporting into the NHSmail Product Owner, and have 2 senior delivery managers reporting into you, who will in turn manage a multi-disciplinary team of User Researchers and tech specialists and work across NHS Digital and third party providers. The NHSmail team provide the national centralised Microsoft 365 Shared Tenant and are looking to support change across frontline services to make use of this provision and identify any gaps, working within champion networks, regional and national stakeholder groups to develop its use.

 

As Lead Delivery Manager you will manage the delivery of Microsoft Office365 products across a wide range of stakeholders and customers and be able to manage teams to develop requirements supported by relevant use cases to meet the needs of the front line. Oversee complex system problems, and developing capabilities within the NHSmail Shared Tenant whilst managing external suppliers. Manage the system requirements that feed into the development aspects of the live services, ensuring the efficient use of the supplier resources, and balancing current demand and future priorities, in line with the NHSmail Roadmap. Ensure that releases in live service meet the agreed variation outcomes and work across stakeholder groups to promote these new areas.

 

The ideal person for this role, will have sound knowledge of Microsoft 365; excellent stakeholder management skills and experience; experience of senior delivery, project management and service improvement; experience of taking development teams through the process and meeting User requirements, working with a community of Users. Ideally you will have a background or good understanding of the health care sector, and awareness of frontline services. And you will have rolled out a local or regional roll out, and connected into national networks.

 

As a Lead Delivery Manager you will:

  • Provide subject matter expertise of managing the delivery of Microsoft Office365 products across a wide range of stakeholders and customers and be able to manage teams to develop requirements supported by relevant use cases to meet the needs of the front line.
  • Use their extensive experience in leading multiple teams and stakeholders, overseeing complex system problems, and developing capabilities within the NHSmail Shared Tenant whilst managing external suppliers.
  • Manage the system requirements that feed into the development aspects of the live services, ensuring the efficient use of the supplier resources, and balancing current demand and future priorities, in line with the NHSmail Roadmap.
  • Take accountability to ensure that releases in live service meet the agreed variation outcomes and work across stakeholder groups to promote these new areas.
  • Ensure that all project deliverables are fully managed and tracked across the CoE team to progress products efficiently and effectively through their development stages and into release across NHSmail.

About you

Some of the skills and experience we're looking for: 

 
  • Performance Management, Manages individuals and groups. Allocates responsibilities and / or packages of work, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Supplier Management, Manages suppliers to meet key performance indicators and agreed targets. Manages the implementation of supplier service improvement actions.
  • Product management, Manages aspects of the product lifecycle enabling the product to meet the needs of customers / users and achieve financial or other targets. Acts as the product owner for one or more lower-value products or services; prioritises product requirements and owns a product backlog.
  • Service Acceptance, Engages with technical design and project managers or Project Management Office, to ensure correct products are produced, in a timely fashion. Evaluates the quality of project outputs against agreed service acceptance criteria.
  • Experience within user-centred design and development as well as iterative agile software development techniques related to the full product lifecycle
  • Provide Subject matter expertise for the design, implementation, and support of Microsoft 365 technologies
  • Support the design, delivery and rollout of Power Platform offerings from Microsoft, this includes Power BI, PowerApps and Power Automate/Flow

 

 

At the moment we're mainly working from home. When it's safe to return to the office we'll be working hybrid
