About The Role

The use of technology in the NHS has been fast, intense, and exciting, especially in the last year.  NHS Digital has been at the forefront of these technology and data advances, and the commercial team is a critical component of this delivery. 

We are seeking a Commercial Officer to join our team based in either our Leeds or London office. As part of our team, you will be helping to deliver our ambition - Working together to harness the power of the marketplace to deliver maximum value to our healthcare system.  We do this to enable NHS Digital to support NHS staff at work, help people get the best care, and use the nation's health data to drive research and transform services.

In this role you will be responsible for providing commercial services and support to meet the needs of the organisation. 

The ideal candidate will have a high level of communication and organisation skills as well as a methodical, analytical approach to the completion of tasks.

As a Commercial Officer you will:

  • Manage small projects and provide support across the commercial lifecycle
  • Follow commercial processes in line with business requirements
  • Manage procurement and contract documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures, using our e-sourcing system
  • Support commercial discussions with suppliers and other stakeholders
  • Liaising with stakeholders, communicating complex concepts and issues clearly and accurately, adapting communication style to meet the needs of the recipient.
  • Ensure that all regulations, governance and commercial procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Support the assessment of accuracy and validity in relation to commercial data to ensure compliance, identifying any issues and advising on any potential remedial actions.
  • Ensure audit trails are maintained, and commercial administration is kept up-to-date
  • Provide support to junior staff
 
There is one role available in either Leeds (reference 402) or London (reference 437).

About You

Some of the key skills and experience you'll bring to the role:  

  • An excellent eye for detail, ability to identify errors and omissions within complex data and documents
  • Ability to keep and maintain clear, accurate written records
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and deliver high-quality work to strict deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, ability to impart complex information effectively to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of working with commercially sensitive and highly confidential information in accordance with all regulatory and any contractual obligations
  • Ability to work as part of a team where there is a high reliance on each other to deliver to strict deadlines
  • A high level of skill in Microsoft Excel and good skills in a range of other Microsoft products
  • Ability to use standard reporting tools to produce comprehensive and accurate reports for a range of audiences
