NHS Digital is the national digital, data and technology partner for the NHS and social care system. We design, build, deploy and operate national products, platforms and data services for patients, clinicians, those who manage the system and researchers in the NHS, academia and the life sciences sector. Our systems serve up to 53 million citizens and 1.3 million NHS staff.

Our goal is to maximise the accessibility, quality and utility of health and care data while respecting privacy, transparency and ethics. Over the last year we have supported a number of separate projects including improvements to COVID data collection, and ongoing support to ECDS (Emergency Care Data Set).
Our services continue to be in demand this year and we have already started on new projects to support the Ambulance Data Set (ADS) and the National Workforce Reporting Service (NWRS).
As such our main focus is to support providers to improve their data and help to find a solution that works for them.
All of which supports the secretary of States ‘Zero Burden ambition and through significant engagement with providers, this continued work will feed into the ambition of rolling out Zero Burden across the NHS.

What's involved, top line

A major element of our role since we established in 2020 has been to leverage our support and services to providers throughout difficult times and ensure the delivery of capabilities. This has included developing our zero burden approach and methodologies by simplifying the collection of Emergency Care from providers, delivering rapid feedback of national data to providers within 24 hours and removing duplication.

NHS Digital requires professionals to harness and appreciate the importance of stakeholder relationships and good data quality for the public good. The health and care system has a very rich array of data that benefit patients and citizens and we have already invested heavily in the infrastructure required to process, access and surface that data. We listen. We understand. We support and now require individuals that can liaise and work with providers to help us understand their needs and convert that into solutions that offer data improvements, reduced burden and can offer real insight into difference to the lives of people everyday.

More about the role

Here at NHS Digital we are growing and investing in our Data Services and Data Liaison team. We are recruiting for 12 month Fixed Term positions in Leeds and London.

You will:

  • be part of a multi-disciplinary team, playing key role in assisting the Information Manager with engagement and support within a specific region.

  • support engagement with Trusts and other data and information providers organisations.
  • monitor the data submitted by providers through existing reports or through development of new reports where necessary.

More about you

Some of the skills and experience we're looking for: 

  • Ability to communicate complex information e.g. high-quality reports, updates and information regarding the project to a range of internal and external stakeholders and colleagues in a variety of different formats, tailored to meet the needs and expectations of different audiences.

  • Experience collating and examining complex information to create high quality reports, using sound analysis and judgement to diagnose problems/risks and make effective decisions to resolve any issues.
  • Experience of effective internal and external stakeholder management, building and maintaining relationships through excellent communication and the effective management of customer expectations.
  • Working knowledge of the importance of Information Governance.
