About The Role

As the Lead Product Manager in NHS Digital’s Platform Directorate, you will be at the heart of designing and building the national demographic service. This service is at the heart of the NHS providing an electronic database of all NHS patient demographic details and contact information so that healthcare professionals can contact and communicate with patients and match patients with their health records. You will be directly involved in multiple high-profile initiatives that make a measurable difference to people’s health and experience of using the NHS, as well as driving digital transformation to improve health outcomes across primary, secondary, and social care.  

You will have an exciting opportunity to support our vision to deliver a user-centred, modern platform approach to our products and services. This is the senior product role within the platforms directorate and is fundamental in ensuring strategic alignment and a strong product strategy which is cohesive to emerging technologies.

This role ensures our product teams are equipped and supported to deliver effectively. The Lead Product Manager will provide direction and clarity on outcomes and deliverables for the team so that work is effectively prioritised, and that  effective relationships are built and maintained with commissioners and senior stakeholders.

As a Lead Product Manager you will be responsible for:

  • providing management, leadership and direction across multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • developing and articulating a clear vision, achievable goals and measurable objectives for teams and products, which are aligned to the goals and objectives of the organisation.
  • coaching, mentoring and line-managing Product Managers and Senior Product Managers to ensure a high performing team.
  • overseeing development of roadmaps for delivery teams and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • managing relationships with strategic suppliers.
  • communicating priorities and progress to senior stakeholders.

About You

Some of the key skills and experience you'll bring:

  • Defining and communicating strategy and outcomes to be delivered by a portfolio of products or teams to multiple audiences.
  • Supporting and leading teams to deliver products that are at the forefront of technological and data quality advancements
  • Working with teams and stakeholders to define user stories with suitable acceptance criteria, key performance indicators (KPIs) and associated performance metrics and measures.
  • Understanding users and their needs and balancing these against NHS priorities to guide teams and inform decision-making on priorities.
  • Significant experience in supporting teams to deliver products and services that meet user needs by employing agile, user-centred design techniques.
  • Communicating ideas clearly and persuasively to diverse audience groups.
  • Fostering collaboration and problem solving within diverse groups, including mixed capabilities and roles as well as internal and external stakeholders.
