About The Role

We are recruiting for a Senior Analysis Manager to work within the Population Health, Clinical Audit and Specialist Care Analysis Team.

NHS Digital is the national digital, data and technology partner for the NHS and social care system. We design, build, deploy and operate national products, platforms and data services for patients, clinicians, those who manage the system and researchers in the NHS, academia and the life sciences sector. Our systems serve up to 53 million citizens and 1.3 million NHS staff.

Our goal is to maximise the accessibility, quality and utility of health and care data while respecting privacy, transparency and ethics. As such we are responsible for analysing large volumes of data related to topics such as hospital care, social care, mental health, diabetes, maternity and weight management. We interpret the trends within this data, summarise the results within publications and make open data available for further research. All of which supports the policy decisions made within the health and social care system.

A major element of our role since 2020 has been to leverage our live services, data and delivery capabilities to support the pandemic, including delivering digital services for NHS Test and Trace, maintaining the shielded patient list, analysing and reporting upon the testing programme, as well as the infection rate.

NHS Digital requires insight professionals to harness large and important sets of data for the public good. The health and care system has a very rich array of data that benefit patients and citizens and we have already invested heavily in the infrastructure required to process, access and surface that data. What we now require are individuals that can harness the power of that data and convert it into insights and information that can make a real difference to the lives of people everyday.

The role is based in Leeds but allows for a significant degree of remote working.

 

As a Senior Analysis Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading all insight activities related to an area of care eg Mental Health, taking responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of the analytical process, from understanding business requirements, data extraction and discovery, solution development and evaluation, to production and implementation.
  •  Engaging with stakeholders at all levels to develop a deep understanding of their requirements and being proactive in suggesting and delivering solutions that meet their needs, are achievable and meet our professional standards.
  • Delivery of a timely, quality service within the agreed financial position, working at pace to drive efficiency and challenging as necessary to deliver value for money.
  • Being proactive in using advanced data analysis techniques to provide analytical evidence as well as championing innovative data presentation techniques for use with internal and external customers.
  • Building relationships across the data services directorate to ensure that multi-disciplinary teams are working cohesively to deliver the best service for the customer.
  • Promoting the implementation and delivery of solutions within an agile framework, developing staff so that they can maximise their potential and deliver in line with organisational priorities.
  • Operating with credibility, being accountable for the work of the team, and an advocate for best practice in statistical analyses.
  • Under our new operating model be part of a skilled team with strong opportunities for training, development and analytical work across a variety of care domains.

While you will be joining an established organisation, there is significant scope to have a major impact and develop solutions that have far reaching consequences.

About You

Some of the key skills and experience you'll bring:

  • Significant experience in an analytical environment.
  • Commercially astute and able to identify and develop opportunities for growth.
  • Strong planning, decision-making and organisation skills, with the ability to manage conflicting demands and judge complex situations through prioritisation and pragmatic approaches.
  • Strong influencing skills and a good team player, with the ability to work with others across organisations without line managing them.
  • Excellent time management skills, demonstrating high levels of accuracy, thoroughness, and reliability whilst coping under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills to carefully document results and findings and present these to stakeholders.

While experience in health sciences is desirable, it is not essential, and we encourage applications from individuals that have worked in other industries that are data rich and insight led.
